Around Baton Rouge 2


Here are a few more photos taken in and around Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The photo at top was taken at the lake at sunset. Every evening cormorants (鵜)and herons (鷺) come to sit in the cypress trees (糸杉), which grow in the water.
The birds look very beautiful as they fly down out of the sky and over the water.
In the picture below, you can see a steamboat on the Mississippi River. River cruises on steamboats are very popular.
The other pictures were taken during the winter a few years ago. You can see that there are no hills or mountains- the land is very flat. The trees are called pecans, and in the fall pecan nuts fall to the ground. People gather them and make pecan pies, or eat the pecans by themselves. Pecans are a delicious treat!
